How to fix?

Upgrade openssl to version 3.1.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference due to insufficient type checking in ossl_cmp_calc_protection in crypto/cmp/cmp_protect.c. An attacker can crash a CMP server or client by sending a crafted PBM-protected message whose protectionAlg parameter uses the wrong ASN.1 type, causing the code to treat the malformed parameter as a PBMParameter and dereference an invalid pointer. This breaks CMP message processing for applications that accept PBM-protected CMP traffic, resulting in a denial of service.
