Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Resource Shutdown or Release via the stbi__gif_load_next function. An attacker can cause the application to become unavailable by enticing a user to open a specially crafted GIF image. This is only exploitable if a user interacts with untrusted GIF files in an application utilizing the affected library.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding the processing of untrusted GIF images, removing unnecessary applications that depend on the affected component, or restricting GIF processing to trusted sources.
