CVE-2004-2652  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:10 snort to version 2.3.0-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream snort package and not the snort package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:10 relevant fixed versions and status.

The DecodeTCPOptions function in decode.c in Snort before 2.3.0, when printing TCP/IP options using FAST output or verbose mode, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via packets with invalid TCP/IP options, which trigger a null dereference.
