CWE-522 (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:11 ansible to version 1.5.5+dfsg-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream ansible package and not the ansible package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:11 relevant fixed versions and status.

Ansible before 1.5.5 constructs filenames containing user and password fields on the basis of deb lines in sources.list, which might allow local users to obtain sensitive credential information in opportunistic circumstances by leveraging existence of a file that uses the "deb http://user:pass@server:port/" format.
