CWE-77  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:11 cups-filters to version 1.0.53-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream cups-filters package and not the cups-filters package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:11 relevant fixed versions and status.

The generate_local_queue function in utils/cups-browsed.c in cups-browsed in cups-filters before 1.0.53 allows remote IPP printers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in the host name. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2014-2707.
