CWE-79  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:11 mediawiki to version 1:1.35.1-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream mediawiki package and not the mediawiki package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:11 relevant fixed versions and status.

MediaWiki before 1.35.1 allows XSS via BlockLogFormatter.php. Language::translateBlockExpiry itself does not escape in all code paths. For example, the return of Language::userTimeAndDate is is always unsafe for HTML in a month value. This affects MediaWiki 1.12.0 and later.
