CWE-295  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:11 openfortivpn to version 1.12.0-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream openfortivpn package and not the openfortivpn package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:11 relevant fixed versions and status.

An issue was discovered in openfortivpn 1.11.0 when used with OpenSSL 1.0.2 or later. tunnel.c mishandles certificate validation because the hostname check operates on uninitialized memory. The outcome is that a valid certificate is never accepted (only a malformed certificate may be accepted).
