CWE-264  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:12 munin to version 2.0.6-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream munin package and not the munin package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:12 relevant fixed versions and status.

Munin before 2.0.6 stores plugin state files that run as root in the same group-writable directory as non-root plugins, which allows local users to execute arbitrary code by replacing a state file, as demonstrated using the smart_ plugin.
