CWE-189  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:12 putty to version 0.66-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream putty package and not the putty package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:12 relevant fixed versions and status.

Integer overflow in the terminal emulator in PuTTY before 0.66 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly execute arbitrary code via an ECH (erase characters) escape sequence with a large parameter value, which triggers a buffer underflow.
