CVE-2012-0061  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-20  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:12 rpm to version 4.9.1.3-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream rpm package and not the rpm package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:12 relevant fixed versions and status.

The headerLoad function in lib/header.c in RPM before 4.9.1.3 does not properly validate region tags, which allows user-assisted remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a large region size in a package header.
