How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:12 rsync to version 3.1.0-3 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream rsync package and not the rsync package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:12 relevant fixed versions and status.

The check_secret function in authenticate.c in rsync 3.1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and CPU consumption) via a user name which does not exist in the secrets file.
