CWE-22  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:12 smarty3 to version 3.1.33+20180830.1.3a78a21f+selfpack1-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream smarty3 package and not the smarty3 package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:12 relevant fixed versions and status.

Smarty_Security::isTrustedResourceDir() in Smarty before 3.1.33 is prone to a path traversal vulnerability due to insufficient template code sanitization. This allows attackers controlling the executed template code to bypass the trusted directory security restriction and read arbitrary files.
