NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream gnome-shell package and not the gnome-shell package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:13 relevant fixed versions and status.

gnome-shell in GNOME Shell 2.31.5 places a zero-length directory name in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, which allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse shared library in the current working directory.
