CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:13 icedtea-web to version 1.3-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream icedtea-web package and not the icedtea-web package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:13 relevant fixed versions and status.

The IcedTea-Web plugin before 1.2.1 does not properly handle NPVariant NPStrings without NUL terminators, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash), obtain sensitive information from memory, or execute arbitrary code via a crafted Java applet.
