CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:13 libotr to version 4.1.1-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream libotr package and not the libotr package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:13 relevant fixed versions and status.

Integer overflow in proto.c in libotr before 4.1.1 on 64-bit platforms allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) or execute arbitrary code via a series of large OTR messages, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
