NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream proftpd-dfsg package and not the proftpd-dfsg package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:14 relevant fixed versions and status.

In ProFTPD 1.3.7, it is possible to corrupt the memory pool by interrupting the data transfer channel. This triggers a use-after-free in alloc_pool in pool.c, and possible remote code execution.
