CWE-310  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for Debian:8 xchat.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream xchat package and not the xchat package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:8 relevant fixed versions and status.

The ssl_do_connect function in common/server.c in HexChat before 2.10.2, XChat, and XChat-GNOME does not verify that the server hostname matches a domain name in the X.509 certificate, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof SSL servers via an arbitrary valid certificate.
