CVE-2021-29425  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-22  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:9 commons-io to version 2.5-1+deb9u1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream commons-io package and not the commons-io package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:9 relevant fixed versions and status.

In Apache Commons IO before 2.7, When invoking the method FileNameUtils.normalize with an improper input string, like "//../foo", or "\..\foo", the result would be the same value, thus possibly providing access to files in the parent directory, but not further above (thus "limited" path traversal), if the calling code would use the result to construct a path value.
