CWE-22  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:unstable cabextract to version 1.6-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream cabextract package and not the cabextract package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:unstable relevant fixed versions and status.

cabextract before 1.6 does not properly check for leading slashes when extracting files, which allows remote attackers to conduct absolute directory traversal attacks via a malformed UTF-8 character that is changed to a UTF-8 encoded slash.
