CWE-189  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:unstable gdb to version 6.3-6 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream gdb package and not the gdb package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:unstable relevant fixed versions and status.

Integer overflow in the Binary File Descriptor (BFD) library for gdb before 6.3, binutils, elfutils, and possibly other packages, allows user-assisted attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted object file that specifies a large number of section headers, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow.
