CWE-264  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Debian:unstable nova to version 2014.1-9 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream nova package and not the nova package as distributed by Debian. See How to fix? for Debian:unstable relevant fixed versions and status.

The VMWare driver in OpenStack Compute (Nova) 2013.2 through 2013.2.2 does not properly put VMs into RESCUE status, which allows remote authenticated users to bypass the quota limit and cause a denial of service (resource consumption) by requesting the VM be put into rescue and then deleting the image.
