CWE-20  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade Echo:latest fetchmail to version 6.3.6-1 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream fetchmail package and not the fetchmail package as distributed by Echo. See How to fix? for Echo:latest relevant fixed versions and status.

fetchmail before 6.3.6-rc4 does not properly enforce TLS and may transmit cleartext passwords over unsecured links if certain circumstances occur, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks.
