CVE-2026-56755  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-409  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade gitea.dev/modules/packages/debian to version 1.27.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification) in the ParseControlFile process. An attacker can exhaust server memory and CPU resources by uploading a specially crafted Debian package file containing a highly compressed control.tar.gz payload or a Description field with a large number of continuation lines. This can result in complete service disruption before any content validation occurs.

Note: This is only exploitable if an authenticated user has write access to the package registry.
