CVE-2024-25631  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-319  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade github.com/cilium/cilium to version 1.14.7 or higher.

Overview

github.com/cilium/cilium is an open source software for providing and transparently securing network connectivity and loadbalancing between application workloads such as application containers or processes.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information due to the configuration of using Wireguard in conjunction with an external kvstore. An attacker can intercept and access traffic between pods within the affected cluster because the traffic is not encrypted.

Note:

This is only exploitable if both an external kvstore and Wireguard transparent encryption are enabled.
