CVE-2026-55079  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-789  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade github.com/coder/coder/v2/coderd/provisionerdserver to version 2.29.17, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, 2.34.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Memory Allocation with Excessive Size Value via the NewDataBuilder process in provisionersdk/proto/dataupload.go when allocating memory based on a client-supplied FileSize value without an upper-bound check. An attacker can cause the service to terminate unexpectedly by sending a specially crafted message with an excessively large FileSize, leading to an out-of-memory condition.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting access to the provisioner daemon serve endpoint to trusted provisioner daemon service accounts.
