CWE-862  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade github.com/external-secrets/external-secrets/pkg/provider/beyondtrust to version 0.20.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Missing Authorization due to the resolvers.SecretKeyRef process not being used for namespace validation. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to secrets across namespaces by exploiting the lack of proper namespace checks during secret retrieval.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by using a policy engine to prevent use of the affected provider and/or validate the (Cluster)SecretStore to ensure the namespace may only be set when using a ClusterSecretStore.
