CVE-2026-26025  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade github.com/free5gc/smf/internal/pfcp/handler to version 1.4.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference when processing a malformed PFCP SessionReportRequest in the process when ReportType.USAR is set to 1 and the UsageReport omits the mandatory URRID sub-IE. An attacker can cause the service to panic and terminate by sending specially crafted PFCP SessionReportRequest messages to the PFCP (UDP/8805) interface.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting access to the PFCP interface using ACLs or firewalls to only allow trusted UPF IPs, dropping or inspecting malformed PFCP SessionReportRequest messages at the network edge, and/or adding recover() around PFCP handler dispatch to prevent whole-process termination.
