CVE-2024-1329  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-386  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade github.com/hashicorp/nomad/helper/escapingfs to version 1.5.14, 1.6.7, 1.7.4 or higher.

Overview

github.com/hashicorp/nomad/helper/escapingfs is a simple and flexible workload orchestrator to deploy and manage containers (docker, podman), non-containerized applications (executable, Java), and virtual machines (qemu) across on-prem and clouds at scale.

Nomad is supported on Linux, Windows, and macOS. A commercial version of Nomad, Nomad Enterprise, is also available

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Symbolic Name not Mapping to Correct Object in the template renderer process. An attacker can write arbitrary files outside the allocdir as the Nomad client user through symlink attacks during the unarchiving of files in a migration.

Note: The fix for this vulnerability does not protect against the raw_exec task attack vector on Windows.
