CWE-22  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-863  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade github.com/kedacore/keda/v2/pkg/scaling/resolver to version 2.17.3, 2.18.3 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization due to insufficient validation of the serviceAccount path in the HashiCorp Vault authentication process. An attacker can access and exfiltrate arbitrary files from the node's filesystem by creating or modifying a TriggerAuthentication resource to specify a malicious file path, potentially exposing sensitive information such as secrets or system files.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by strictly restricting permissions for creating and modifying TriggerAuthentication resources within the Kubernetes cluster, ensuring only trusted and authorized users have such permissions.
