CWE-770  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for github.com/minio/minio/pkg/s3select.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling via the nextSplit function in the S3 Select CSV parsing process. An attacker can cause the server to exhaust available memory and crash by uploading a specially crafted CSV file with extremely long lines lacking newline characters, either compressed or uncompressed, and then triggering processing of that file.

Notes:

  • This is only exploitable if the attacker has s3:PutObject and s3:GetObject permissions.
  • This package (minio/minio) has been renamed/succeeded by minio/aistor/minio on Quay. The fix is available only in the new package starting from tag RELEASE.2025-12-20T04-58-37Z.
