Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling due to unbounded group parsing in the user and group file handling code in executor/oci/user.go and solver/llbsolver/ops/user_linux.go. An attacker can exhaust memory and trigger an OOM kill of buildkitd by supplying a malicious image or build that forces container creation to resolve usernames against oversized /etc/passwd or /etc/group files. The vulnerable path reads those files without an upper bound during UID/GID lookup and user resolution, so a crafted filesystem payload can make the build daemon consume excessive memory and stop processing builds.
