Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization in the CodeExchange and RefreshToken processes. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to user accounts or maintain persistent access from an unauthorized client by presenting intercepted authorization codes or refresh tokens under a different client identity. This is only exploitable if an attacker is able to obtain valid authorization codes or refresh tokens through a pre-existing vulnerability or data leak within the target application environment.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by enforcing the use of PKCE for all clients to reduce the risk of authorization code injection and by minimizing refresh token lifespans.
