How to fix?

Upgrade bandit to version 1.13.0 or higher.

Overview

bandit is a HTTP server for Plug and WebSock apps.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input in the HTTP/1 request-line parser (do_read_headers in lib/bandit/http1/adapter.ex) when processing the request target. Prior to the fix, the parser only handled abs_path request targets and did not validate or reject other RFC 9112 request-target forms such as absoluteURI, authority-form, or *. An attacker can send a request with an unexpected request-target type, causing the server to misroute or misinterpret the request, resulting in unintended modification of server-side state.

Note: This is only exploitable for building absolute URLs unless the host has been checked against an allow-list.
