Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Uncontrolled Resource Consumption ('Resource Exhaustion') via the GraphQL query processing. An attacker can cause a denial of service by sending specially crafted queries that trigger a StackOverflowError
. This is only exploitable if the application has untrusted users.
Note:
No specific knowledge of an application's GraphQL schema would be required to construct a pathological query.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by interposing a sanitizing layer between untrusted input and Grackle query processing.
