CWE-209  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade org.apache.camel:camel-grpc to version 4.18.5, 4.22.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Information Exposure via the GrpcMethodHandler in the gRPC consumer. An external caller can obtain internal exception details by sending a gRPC request that causes a route behind the consumer to fail; the handler places the exception message in the status description sent to the caller, which can expose class and package names, paths, host names, and connection details.

Notes

  • On the error-response step, disclosure is limited to information in the route exception’s message; the attached status cause remains local to the server.

Workarounds

  • Map route failures to an explicit gRPC status in an onException handler so the framework does not include the route exception’s message in the status description.
