How to fix?

Upgrade org.apache.camel:camel-netty-http to version 4.18.5, 4.22.1 or higher.

Overview

org.apache.camel:camel-netty-http is a versatile open-source integration framework based on known Enterprise Integration Patterns.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Handling of Case Sensitivity via the extractTarget function in the HttpServerChannelHandler component. An external caller can bypass a configured security constraint by changing the case of a character in the endpoint context path: dispatch still routes the request to the endpoint, but the constraint evaluates the unstripped path and does not recognize it as protected. This lets the caller reach the protected route without credentials.

Workarounds

  • Place the authorization check in front of the Camel consumer, for example in a reverse proxy that normalizes request paths before forwarding, to prevent case-variant paths from bypassing the constraint.
