Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling through the PolicyReference.getRemoteReferencedPolicy path in src/main/java/org/apache/neethi/PolicyReference.java. An attacker can exhaust memory or force the process to spend excessive resources by supplying a remote policy reference that points to a very large policy and having it retrieved through the API. The vulnerable code reads the remote response directly into pe.getPolicy(in) without enforcing a size limit, so manually fetching an oversized remote policy can stall or crash applications that process untrusted policy references.
