CWE-297  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade org.apache.ranger:ranger-nifi-registry-plugin to version 2.8.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Validation of Certificate with Host Mismatch due to the NiFiRegistryHostnameVerifier checking hostnames against subjectAltNames on any certificate in the TLS chain instead of verifying only the leaf/server certificate. An attacker in a MiTM position can impersonate the NiFi Registry and intercept or modify sensitive policy data by supplying a certificate whose SAN matches the expected hostname in an intermediate certificate.
