org.apache.storm:storm-server is a distributed realtime computation system.
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling via the DRPC process. An attacker can cause unbounded memory consumption by sending numerous unique function names, leading to exhaustion of server resources. This is possible because entries for each function name are never removed, and no authentication is required by default to access the endpoint.
This vulnerability can be mitigated by configuring drpc.authorizer to restrict access to trusted principals and ensuring DRPC ports are not accessible from untrusted networks.
