CVE-2026-68525  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-863  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade org.apache.tomcat:tomcat to version 9.0.121, 10.1.59, 11.0.25 or higher.

Overview

org.apache.tomcat:tomcat is an implementation of the Java Servlet, JavaServer Pages, Java Expression Language and Java WebSocket technologies.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization via the FormAuthenticator and AuthenticatorBase FORM authentication flow. An attacker can bypass a security constraint that allows access to a resource for POST but not GET by authenticating through FORM login and restoring a saved request with a different HTTP method. This lets a request that should be blocked reach the protected resource, exposing content or actions that the user should not be allowed to access with that method.

Notes

  • The issue was fixed in Apache Tomcat 10.1.58, but the release vote for the 10.1.58 release candidate did not pass. Therefore, although users must download 10.1.59 to obtain a version that includes a fix for this issue, version 10.1.58 is not included in the list of affected versions.
