Overview

org.springframework.security:spring-security-core is a package that provides security services for the Spring IO Platform.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Timing Attack via the comparison of sensitive values using standard string equality rather than constant-time comparison in DigestAuthenticationFilter, KeyBasedPersistenceTokenService, BalloonHashingPassword4jPasswordEncoder, Pbkdf2Password4jPasswordEncoder, and InMemoryOAuth2AuthorizationService. An attacker can recover secret values such as password hashes, authentication digests, verification keys, or OAuth2 token values by submitting a large number of requests and precisely measuring response times. This is only exploitable if an attacker can make a very large number of requests with low network jitter and precise timing measurements.
