CWE-1286  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade org.springframework.security:spring-security-oauth2-authorization-server to version 7.0.5 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input in OAuth2ClientRegistrationAuthenticationProvider.java. An attacker with a valid Initial Access Token can register a client with crafted metadata, including redirect URIs, by submitting a registration request to the dynamic client registration endpoint. The registration flow accepts malformed or dangerous client metadata without adequate checks, which can lead to stored XSS, SSRF, or privilege escalation when that metadata is later processed or rendered.
