Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incomplete List of Disallowed Inputs through insufficient validation of environment variables in the validateEnvironmentVariables process. An attacker can execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the running process by supplying specially crafted environment variables, such as npm_config_yes, to bypass intended security restrictions and trigger unauthorized package installation and execution. This is only exploitable if the deployment is configured without authentication and the attacker has network access to the API endpoint.
