Overview

ghost is a publishing platform

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Arbitrary File Upload in the mediaValidation middleware in ghost/core/core/server/web/api/middleware/upload.js, where SVG thumbnail uploads are not checked against the file's MIME content type, only its extension. An authenticated attacker can upload a malicious SVG file with a non-SVG extension (e.g. .jpg) as a media thumbnail, causing storage adapters that serve files by content type (such as S3) to serve the unsanitized SVG as image/svg+xml, enabling stored cross-site scripting.
