CWE-284  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade kibana to version 8.12.1 or higher.

Overview

kibana is an open source (Apache Licensed), browser-based analytics and search dashboard for Elasticsearch.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Access Control due to improper validation in the Detection Engine Search API. An attacker can obtain unauthorized access to documents by exploiting the API's failure to enforce Document-level security (DLS) or Field-level security (FLS) when querying the .alerts-security.alerts-{space_id} indices. This is only exploitable if the attacker's roles are configured with DLS or FLS against the aforementioned index.
