How to fix?

Upgrade n8n to version 1.121.0 or higher.

Overview

n8n is a n8n Workflow Automation Tool

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to User Impersonation in the account linking when LDAP authentication is enabled. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to another user's account, including administrative accounts, by setting their LDAP email attribute to match the target user's email. This linkage persists even if the LDAP email is later changed, resulting in permanent unauthorized access.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by disabling LDAP authentication, restricting LDAP directory permissions to prevent users from modifying their own email attributes, or auditing existing LDAP-linked accounts for unexpected associations.
