CWE-862  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade n8n to version 1.123.33, 2.17.5 or higher.

Overview

n8n is a n8n Workflow Automation Tool

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Missing Authorization via the dynamic-node-parameters endpoints. An attacker can access and exfiltrate sensitive credentials belonging to other users by supplying a foreign credential ID in the request body, causing the backend to decrypt and use those credentials in a helper execution path where the attacker also controls the destination URL.

Workaround

  • This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting access to fully trusted users only and avoiding sharing workflows with users who should not have access to the referenced credentials.
