Overview

openclaw is a 🦞 OpenClaw — Personal AI Assistant

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization via the inline-eval process. An attacker can execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of the authenticated operator by crafting command requests that combine allowlisted tools with shell positional arguments, thereby bypassing intended restrictions. This is only exploitable if the affected feature is enabled and reachable, and lower-trust input can access the relevant path.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding allowlisting shell carrier patterns and requiring approval for shell wrappers until patched. Additionally, keeping channel and tool allowlists narrow, avoiding sharing one Gateway between mutually untrusted users, and disabling the affected feature when not needed can reduce risk.
