CWE-89  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade payload to version 3.88.0, 4.0.0-canary.27 or higher.

Overview

payload is a Node, React and MongoDB Headless CMS and Application Framework

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to SQL Injection through the read query path in find, findDistinct, findVersions, update, and join query handling in the Payload collection and global operations. An attacker can inject SQL by supplying untrusted dynamic filters, sort parameters, or join parameters in requests against readable collections, causing unauthorized database query execution and exposing or manipulating data in SQLite- and Postgres-backed deployments.

Workarounds

  • Restrict untrusted users from supplying dynamic query filters or join parameters.
  • Limit read access to the affected collections.
