How to fix?

Upgrade vm2 to version 3.11.6 or higher.

Overview

vm2 is a sandbox that can run untrusted code with whitelisted Node's built-in modules.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource in the NodeVM configuration when builtin: ['*'] is used, which exposes the os and dns modules to sandboxed code. An attacker can access sensitive host information, such as user credentials and network topology, and modify process-wide settings, including DNS resolver lists and process priority, by executing malicious code within the sandbox. This allows unauthorized reading and writing of host process state, potentially leading to data exfiltration, supply chain attacks, or denial of service.
